Disc Golf  Extravaganza

Today I explored the disc golf courses of the Raleigh Parks and Recreation department as a birthday outing for David T's birthday. It was my first time playing the game - it was fun, a great workout and free!

Disc golf is similar to traditional golf - you tee off from the tee pad (18th pictured below) with your driver disc.

Along the way their are hazadards (trees, shrubs, elevation changes, water, etc) - which made for a very interesting time for our group. Continue to toward the basket using mid-range drivers as necessary then you switch to your putter disc.

Overall, the object of the game is to traverse a course from beginning to end in the fewest number of throws of the disc. I am sure I haven't captured all the technical terms and aspects of the game but these are the basics I learned and applied at the courses today.

So get out and about and enjoy the disc golf courses at a park near you!
